Dolls from the Past!

Kokeshi Bobble Head Dolls from Japan

Material:  Wood
Made: In Japan in the 1950's (bought 1956/1957).
"We brought these dolls to the Depot from Florida.  They are like the Russian nesting dolls.  We delighted in opening them up to find the smallest baby in the center," remembered Josephine Wyatt-Ashmead.


Empire Dressed Doll by Gwendolynn Wyatt

Material:  Pipe cleaner and crepe paper
Made by: Gwendolynn Wyatt in the 1950's.

"I had fun making this doll with pipe cleaners wrapped in crepe paper!" exclaimed Gwendolynn Wyatt.


Bride and Groom China Dolls by Mary E. Wyatt

Material:  China doll parts from a kit in a catalog, old lace (dress), beads, and fabric.
Made by: Mary E. Wyatt in the 1950's for Josephine's 4th birthday.
"My mother said that she wore her eyes out working on these two dolls.  She only worked on them at night in secret to surprise me on my birthday," said Josephine Wyatt-Ashmead.
